New System Setup

Did you just buy a new computer and are nervous about setting it up?  Let me do it for you and save yourself time and a headache!  I’ll setup one computer, monitor, keyboard and mouse along with your printer and one other device (like a camera, a scanner, a PDA) for only $49.  I’ll make sure your new computer system can get on the Internet and retrieve your email (if you have Internet access), can print, and can download photos from your digital camera — all for only $49.

Do you want to copy all the data (documents, photos, music, Internet Favorites, email, etc.) from your old computer to your new one?  I’ll do that for an additional $49.

So, I’ll setup your new computer system and copy the data from your old computer to your new one for only $98.  That’s $150 less than the Geeks at Best Buy charge!

Secure Home or Office Network & WiFi

Networking your computer equipment can save you money.

If your computer can access the Internet, chances are you have all the necessary hardware to network your computer equipment. You can save money by sharing a printer or backing up your data to another computer. I can configure your router (wired or wireless) and connect your computers, printers, and other devices (like your iPad) to be on a secure network in your home or office. I will setup your shared network and configure up to 3 devices for only $49 ($10 for each additional device).

Do you want a data server but don’t have $3,000.00 to shell out for a full-blown server? I can setup a shared network drive (NAS drive) for around $500.00 (including the drive and labor to set up). This will give you one common place to store all your documents, photos, accounting files, etc. This makes everything easier to find and makes backups simpler and more reliable.

Don’t have WiFi? Setting up a wireless router or access point has gotten easier, but most times they are left open to hacking. I will make sure it is secure so nobody can ‘eavesdrop’ or get on to your network without a password. I can setup your secure wireless network and connect up to 3 devices for only $49 ($10 for each additional device).

Protect your Data

Data Backups – it’s easier than you think!

When it comes to your computer system, there are few guarantees I can offer you. One thing I can guarantee is that one day your hard drive will fail and all the data stored on it will be lost – forever! Like a light bulb that burns out when you need it the most, your hard drive will cease to work and the information stored on it will be irretrievably lost!

Protect your data with an automatic backup system

I usually get a call from someone sounding very desperate because their computer will not start. When I tell them their hard drive has ‘crashed’ and the information on it is lost, I can see the tears welling up in their eyes. Don’t let this happen to you, protect your data with an automatic backup.

There are many inexpensive options for backups

Protecting your photos, your accounting file, your email – everything on your computer’s hard drive – is as simple as making a copy and storing it somewhere else. You can store it on a CD or DVD, an external hard drive that sells for $60, another computer in your home or office, or by using an online service that automatically backs up everything on the Internet for as low as $5/month.

I will make sure your hard drive is organized properly and that the backup software is configured to back up all your information.

Recovering your data can be as easy as connecting the external hard drive to a computer and copying the folders and files to your hard drive. Simple, easy to understand backups make for a painless restore process. Online backups also make it very easy to recover your files. Sometimes a hard drive is not completely ‘dead’ and can be read using a special device.

I can sometimes retrieve your data and save it to another computer

If you simply must get the information out of your dead hard drive, there are recovery services that can retrieve your data in most situations.  They are relatively expensive, about $100 per Gigabyte (that’s $1,000.00 per 10 Gigabytes, or $20,000.00 for 200 Gigabytes).

For less than the price of recovering just one Gigabyte, you can backup all the data on your computer regularly.

Get Rid of Your Computer’s Viruses and Spyware

Viruses and Spyware, now called Malware, plague us all.  The people who create these programs are getting better and more creative — making it more difficult to protect our computers and the information we store on them.  Subsequently, it’s  becoming more difficult to remove Malware completely from  infected computers so they do not return.

I can remove the Malware from your computer – completely!

Don’t subject yourself to the  inconvenience of Malware – slow computer, annoying pop-ups, fake virus warnings. Not only is leaving Malware on your system a nuisance, it’s also dangerous  because most Malware is designed to allow someone else to take control of your computer when you are not using it. Some are even designed to steal your passwords, banking, and credit card information.

You don’t have to live with Malware on your computer. Help protect your identity.

Viruses used to get into our computers via email attachments and on infected floppy disks.  Nowadays, your computer can get infected by simply visiting a website or viewing an email that has been infected.  As technology advances, the virus-writers will surely find more ways to get into our computers.

Keeping Malware out of your computer system involves a trusted anti-virus program AND Malware protection.  Some familiar brands include Norton, Symantec, McAfee, Microsoft Security Essentials, Kaspersky.  There are also “free” programs available like AVG, Avast, PC Tools.  These free anti-virus programs offer the most basic protection and should not be used unless you yourself are very careful about the way you use your computer.

I will install the best virus protection for your situation at no additional cost (except for the software).

Once an infection occurs, removing Malware can be a lengthy and difficult process. Eliminating the symptoms does not guarantee that the offending software has been completely removed. Removal typically requires some manual editing of the registry and running several removal utilities designed especially for the type of Malware running on your computer. This type of expertise can only come from experience and, trust me, I’ve seen it all!
